The pattern is written for sportweight yarns, but gauge is not critical. Want to make this scarf a shawl? Just work as many repeats as you like, then follow the instructions for finishing the body and working the final I-cord edging.
YARN Option 1: Blue Sky Fibers Organic Cotton Sport Weight (100% organic cotton; 136 yd [125 m]/1¾ oz [50 g]; sportweight): Jasper, Caribbean, and Sky, 1 skein each.
Option 2: Appalachian Baby Design U.S. Organic Cotton Sport Weight (100% organic cotton; 194 yd [177 m]/3 oz [85 g]; sportweight): Gold, 2 balls.
NEEDLES Size 5 (3.75 mm): 24" (60 cm) circular (cir). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
NOTIONS Markers (m); tapestry needle.
GAUGE 17 sts and 35 rows = 4" (10 cm) in patt. Gauge is not critical for this project.
