Worked from the bottom up, this open-front cardigan features a simple textured stitch pattern and yoke/shoulder shaping inspired by tailored ready-to-wear fashions. The sleeves are worked first in the round, then set aside while you knit the body to the underarms. All pieces are then joined, and the yoke is carefully shaped to create a well-fitting sleeve cap. The only seams are at the back shoulders. You’ll reach for this cozy wardrobe staple over and over.
YARN Studio Donegal Darnie (100% lambswool; 448 yd [410 m]/3½ oz [100 g]; fingering weight): #8810 Tristan, 3 (4, 4, 4, 5) (5, 5, 6, 6) skeins.
NEEDLES Sizes 2 (2.75 mm) and 3 (3.25 mm): 32"–40" (80–100 cm) circular (cir) and set of double-pointed (dpn). Size 3 (3.25 mm): 32"–40" (80–100 cm) spare cir for setting up yoke. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
NOTIONS Markers (m); stitch holders; tapestry needle.
GAUGE 22 sts and 41 rows = 4" (10 cm) in Texture patt on larger needles.
