Metallic threads running alongside the light yarn in this projectt add an extra bit of shimmer.
During a drive through some stunning scenery, designer Annette Swan Schipf noticed how the sunlight hitting one specific river created a beautiful glimmer that reflected in the current. She found a draft on Handweaving.net that looked like ripples in water, fiddled with it in Fiberworks to change the edges and reverse the pattern direction several times along the length of the scarf. A fine opalescent thread alongside the light yarn in the shadow weave structure replicates the sun’s reflection on the water while waves in shades of blue ripple around it.
