Weave this silky piece to wear yourself—or share it with a special child.
Weave this shawl in yellow, orange, and black to mimic a monarch butterfly, or in red, black, and white to make ladybug wings.
For this design, Malynda Allen chose Tencel for its sheen, and an undulating twill to give patterning and shimmer to the shawl. Thinking about the fun children would have playing with the wings, she decided to include oh-so-touchable fringe. Optional ribbons and soft, stretchy hair bands sewn on the wrong side of the fabric allow it to transform at a moment’s notice into wings sure to spark the creativity and imagination of little ones.
