Designer Melvenea Hodges called this pattern the "chameleon" beause it can adapt to whatever yarn, color combination, and size you wish to create. The orginal version of Melvenea's Chameleon Shawl was worked in two weights of handspun cotton, and we've updated it for two strands of fine, natural-color cotton yarns from Sally Fox held together to create a wonderful marled, handspun look.
This pattern includes garter-eyelet, reverse-stockinette, and stockinette motifs to mix and match as you knit. The pattern was adapted by Kate Larson to include reverse-stockinette and stockinette as a reversible option.

MATERIALS
YARN Vreseis Limited 10/2 Foxfibre Colorganic (100% cotton;
4,200 yd [3,841 m]/1 lb [454 g]); Upland White, Brown, Green,
1 cone each. (Sample shown used about 500 yards total.)
NEEDLES Size 2 (2.75 mm): 32" circular (cir). Gauge is not
critical.
NOTIONS Markers (m); removable m; size F/5 (3.75 mm)
crochet hook; tapestry needle.
GAUGE 21 sts and 24 rows = 4" in pattern after blocking.
FINISHED SIZE 37½" wide and 13½" tall.
