If you like knitting with natural fibers, you have a farmer to thank. Wing & A Prayer Farm, located in southwestern Vermont, is home to about 75 sheep and other animals. In this video, shepherd Tammy White takes us on a behind-the-scenes tour of her farm on the eve of shearing day. Tammy explains how, from her first small Shetland sheep to her current mixed flock, she has grown her flock with the goals of good stewardship and good wool. Learn about the joys, difficult decisions, and wild adventures that lie behind every skein of her small-batch, hand-dyed yarn. Tammy’s flock includes the first American examples of the Valais Blacknose, known as the “world’s cutest sheep,” as well as finewool, longwool, and rescued sheep.
