Weldon’s Practical Needlework offers no end of inspiration to the modern sock knitter. Katrina King shares her adaptation of Weldon’s innovative re-footed sock. The leg and heel are knit in the usual manner. But once the heel is turned—that’s when the magic happens. The gusset and top of the instep get worked separately for easy repairs.
Materials:
Finished size: Foot circumference, about 9¼" (23.5 cm) around base of toes; leg length, 9" (22.9 cm) from top of cuff to top of heel flap; foot length, 10" (25.4 cm) from back of heel to tip of toes.
Gauge: 32 sts and 44 rnds = 4" (10.2 cm) in St st.
