This easy-to-wear pullover was inspired by the textured walls of a barn that has the strength to withstand harsh weather and protect the animals within. The strong vertical lines of Twisted Rib stitch elongate the body. The simplicity of the stitch pattern and oversized drop shoulder combine to give it a relaxed feel.
This pullover is worked in pieces from the bottom up and seamed; the shoulders and front neck are shaped with short-rows. A circular needle is used to accommodate the large number of stitches.
YARN Knit Picks High Desert Worsted (100% American wool; 217 yd [198 m]/3½ oz [100 g]; worsted weight): #61197 Meadowlark, 7 (8, 9, 10) (11, 11, 12, 13) skeins.
NEEDLES Size 7 (4.5 mm): 16" (40 cm) and 32" (80 cm) circular (cir). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
NOTIONS Markers (m); removable m; stitch holders; tapestry needle.
GAUGE 25 sts and 29 rows = 4" (10 cm) in Twisted Rib patt. 20 sts and 29 rows = 4" (10 cm) in rev St st.
FINISHED SIZE 42 (46, 50, 54) (57½, 61½, 66, 70)" (106.5 [117, 127, 137] [146, 156, 167.5, 178] cm) chest circumference. Pullover shown measures 46" (117 cm); modeled with 12" (30.5 cm) of ease.
