The author likes to work with silk hankies because they require patience and tolerance, and they make loveable, imperfect yarns that are a pleasure to wear. Yarns spun from silk hankies have no elasticity; they do not stretch. They do, however, make lovely drapey knitted fabric. These yarns can feel cool in warm weather and warm during cooler months.
Silk hankies produce yarn with slubs and nubs, and the author has learned to love the variable nature of the yarn she makes with silk hankies. For this project she spun 2-ply fingering weight yarn for a stunning knitted scarf that's 5 1/2" wide by 43 3/4" long.
