Use the density of twined knitting to create this headband-plus-more for walks in chilly weather. Start your walk with it over your nose and cheeks, and as you warm up, pull it down so it’s just around your neck. As you heat up even more, pocket your hat and wear it as a wide headband, almost like a ponytail hat. It can also be worn under your hat as a liner. People to whom I have gifted them wear them for every walk during the cold season.
MATERIALS
Fiber
Merino/alpaca blend, white, 1 oz (28 g). Targhee/ alpaca blend, raspberry, 1 oz (28 g). Wool, teal, ¼ oz (7 g).
Yarn 2-ply sportweight (1,450 ypp; 14 wpi), raspberry (MC) and white (CC1), 90 yd each; teal (CC2), 20 yd.
Needles Size 5 (3.75 mm): 16" (40 cm) circular (cir). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Other Supplies Marker (m); spare double-pointed needle; tapestry needle.
Gauge 28 sts and 35 (32) rnds = 4" (10 cm) in patt. See Notes.
Finished Size 16 (17¼)" (40.5 [44] cm) circumference and 4½ (5¼)" (11.5 [13.5] cm) tall.
