These dainty—yet stretchy—crocheted gloves use laceweight cotton yarn and are worked entirely in slip-stitch crochet. True to the patterns of the day, this original glove pattern from 1854 was written for one size; however the author has included suggestions on how, and where, to adjust sizing.
MATERIALS
Finished Size: Shown in size small, which fits a hand circumference of about 7" (18 cm) and hand length, including cuff, of about 6" (15 cm). Suggestions given in pattern on how to change gauge or add rows to obtain medium and large sizes.
Gauge: Woman’s small (medium, large), 11 (101 /2, 10) sts = 2" (5 cm) in back loop only sl st; 14 (13 1/2, 12 1/2) sts = 2" (5 cm) in front loop only sl st. Rnd gauge for sample size (small) is 14 rnds = 2" (5 cm) in front loop only sl st.
