The tree is a multifaceted symbol in cultures around the world, often representing long life and wisdom. The Tree pattern or motif is found in knitting, embroidery, and weaving in many countries; Shetland, Orenburg, and Estonian lace knitting traditionally incorporate this motif.
Materials
Yarn: Jamieson & Smith Shetland Supreme 100% Shetland wool yarn, 2-ply laceweight, 219 yards (200.3 m)/25 gram (0.9 oz) skein, 3 skeins of Fawn.
Needles: circular size 1 (2.25 mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.
Notions: Stitch markers, 2 different colors, Stitch holder, Waste yarn, Tapestry needle, Fiber Fantasy Blockers Kit for traditional blocking method (optional).
Finished size: 57 inches (144.8 cm) wide and 29 inches (73.7 cm) deep, blocked.
Gauge: 20 sts and 40 rows = 4 inches (10.2 cm) in chart patt, blocked
