Unassuming and thirsty, Kerala towels are generally plain weave in white cotton with a few stripes or decorations to distinguish them. Waffle-weave versions spotted on a recent trip gave designer Anne Merrow the idea to weave a set of towels: one in traditional plain weave with clasped-weft accents, and the other with simple waffle-weave pick-up.

Anne’s in-laws live in a part of India known for its lush, tropical climate (with humidity to match).
