Chain Reaction

Just because your rigid-heddle loom isn’t very wide doesn’t mean you can’t make shawls and garments. It takes a little creativity, and often that creativity adds to your piece’s overall aesthetic. Join two panels with decorative stitching and use the same stitching to further embellish the edges of this luxurious shawl. The beaded fringe is optional— but a very pretty option!

Goldenrod Scarf

Mix it up a bit on your rigid-heddle loom by combining plain weave with handworked Danish medallions that flow both horizontally and vertically. The textures and patterns created add a wow factor to this single-color scarf.

With a Tencel weft in the same tone as the warp, this shawl has a subtle glow and delicate lace pattern. Two pick-up sticks that slide over each other in the warp, eliminating the need to reinsert them, make it an easier-than-expected process to create such an elegant piece.
