Plaid About You Throw

This cozy twill plaid throw has a lovely drape that makes wrapping yourself in it irresistible. Weave it as written, or use Kathy Broughton’s suggestions for changing the width of the blanket or the scale of the plaid.

About the Project

Living in Canada, where cold weather seems to last an oversized part of the year, Kathy has amassed a large collection of throw blankets. As the temperatures drop, she finds it soothing to curl up on her couch with a hot cup of coffee, a handwoven blanket, and a good book. Cotton throws are a favorite because of their easy care. Her family enjoys the weight of a blanket woven in 8/4 cotton, which is readily available in a large array of colors. Kathy chose to hemstitch her throw in small bundles, finishing off the throw with a short, nontwisted fringe that fluffs up with use and washing in a pleasing way.

Note: There are three WIFs for this throw. One is for the four-shaft twill throw as published, another is for a four-shaft doublewidth version in plain weave, and the third is for an eight-shaft doublewidth version in twill.
