Use this free bonus WIF and treadling draft for the Majestic Royal Scarf from Handwoven Nov/Dec 2018.
For this scarf project, Nancy Dunlap combined huck lace with a turned twill draft. You can use this WIF and treadling draft, combined with the pattern from Handwoven Nov/Dec 2018, to weave this beautiful scarf.
More about this design:
Huck lace uses warp and weft floats to create lace patterns on a plain-weave background. Warp floats on the front of the cloth create weft floats on the back, and vice versa. When the cloth is off the loom, the warp floats bunch together as vertical bundles and the weft floats bunch together in horizontal bundles, creating a lacy effect. Using the same color for warp and weft allows the lace pattern to show clearly, but to create a bit of color interest, Nancy added navy, black, and gold to the centered warpwise twill stripe.
Editor’s note: A scarf similar to this one can be woven on eight shafts by replacing the twill center stripe with a plain-weave stripe threaded on shafts 1 and 2, eliminating one end to maintain the even/odd sequence. Disregard the treadling for twill in the draft.
