Handwoven March/April 2019

Celebrate North American weaving with the March/April 2019 issue of Handwoven. Discover 10 projects with historical ties to North America including scarves, rugs, towels and more. Many of the projects in this issue are based on overshot designs, although each designer added a special twist to the structure.

Anita Osterhaug details her experience weaving with lopi, a yarn many think of as a "knitting yarn," and then she gives tips and tricks for working with it in the Idea Gallery. In The Draft, Madelyn van der Hoogt describes and deciphers the various techniques used in old weaving books to design overshot. Then in our Traditions article Carol James, a well–known fingerweaver, writes about the history of fingerweaving in Canada and then provides a simple fingerwoven bracelet project.
