We all fall for those one-of-a-kind hand-painted skeins, but it can be a challenge to find the right pattern that shows them at their best. This mitten uses a simple woven/slipped pattern that does just that! The densely worked mittens are long, so there is no brazen display of wrist out in the cold!
MATERIALS
Yarn Mountain Colors Montana (100% US Merino-Rambouillet wool; 200 yd [183 m]/100 g; worsted weight), Silver Anniversary, 1 (1, 2) skeins.
Needles Size 7 (4.5 mm) and 5 (3.75 mm) set of double-pointed (dpn) or long circular for magic loop. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions Stitch markers (m); stitch holder; tapestry needle.
Gauge 20 sts and 28 rnds = 4" (10 cm) in St st using larger needle, blocked. 20 sts and 52 rnds = 4" (10 cm) in patt stitch using larger needle, blocked.
Finished Size 7½ (8, 9)" (19 [20.5, 23] cm) hand circumference and 8 (9½, 10¾)" (20.5 [24, 27.5] cm) length. Shown in size 8".
